The Dream Continues

My first appearance of the new year was spent honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Sunday January 17th I was honored to speak at the Pitt County NAACP MLK Celebration held at Mt. Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Winterville, NC. Monday morning I attended another celebration honoring Dr. King. This celebration was held in Ayden at a local restaurant. I had a wonderful time at both events. I am truly blessed to be able to reap the benefits of great leaders such as Martin Luther King, Jr. Speaking at this program as well as attending this program made me wonder what would my life be like if Dr. King did not stand up for what he believed in; I would probably attend an all African-American school and received books that were hand-me-downs. My life would be totally different! I would not have friends or teachers that don't look like myself. Segregation and injustice would still exists today if it was not for the many great leaders we have had in the past. As Dr. King said "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere."
